Hackney Nights - keeping you safe at night

In partnership with local pubs, clubs and bars, Hackney Council set up Hackney Nights to support local venues with issues related to drinking alcohol. It’s been designed to help Hackney’s nightlife continue to thrive, while making the borough a place where everyone feels safe, welcome and included.

Being part of Hackney Nights has many benefits, including:

  • Regular updates with industry information and resources

  • A local network of venues sharing tips and support

Premises who meet the accreditation standards will also benefit from a 30% reduction in late night levy fees.

To receive accredited status, venues must meet a range of criteria including:

  • Staff training on issues including vulnerability, welfare, Ask for Angela and drink spiking

  • A zero tolerance approach to hate, harassment and any form of violence against women

  • Appropriate measures for customer safety

  • Inclusive attitudes and policies

  • A robust noise policy and approach to reducing nuisance

  • Sustainable and greener practices
